Keenan Shute received her formal education from Peace Junior College, Raleigh, North Carolina, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the Atlanta College of Art.

Painting and traveling with artist-husband Ben Shute for 25 years was important to her personal development as an artist. "We especially loved the Mediterranean countries where we spent many happy hours painting on location. I have always been drawn to the classical ruins of Greece and Italy."

Keenan has worked in many media including casein, oil, acrylic and encaustic, but she finds watercolor offers a most exciting feeling for expression and interpretaion of subject matter.

Her work has been accepted in many juried competitions where it has won numerous honors and awards. Her paintings are part of private, public and corporate collections throughout the Southeast including the Columbus Museum.

A resident of Atlanta since 1957, Keenan is a member of the High Museum and National Museum of Women in Washington, DC. Honorary memberships include the Atlanta Portrait Society. She has served as President of both the Atlanta Watercolor Club and Artists Associates.
